The museum is reshaping its future
The museum is writing its future
The Musée de l’Imprimerie et de la Communication graphique will close its doors to the public starting June 1, 2025, for an 18-month renovation focused on accessibility.
This necessary pause is not the end of a story — on the contrary, it marks the beginning of a major transformation.

A collection full of life
Even while the museum is closed, the collections won’t be sleeping: they will travel, be exhibited elsewhere, undergo conservation work, be documented, and shared.
The museum continues to work with numerous partners to showcase its typographic and graphic treasures — in Lyon and beyond.
And for the curious, some of these gems will be available online, through posts, highlights, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the renovation on our social media channels.

The museum beyond its walls: a programme to follow
The museum isn’t entirely closing its doors: exhibitions, workshops, talks, and events will continue off-site throughout the renovation period, in partnership with cultural venues across Lyon.
From posters to manga, typography to contemporary design, reading to publishing — graphic cultures remain front and centre.
To stay in the loop, follow us here and on social media: the museum will keep giving voice to images, even without its walls!

See you in 2027 to discover…
In 2027, the museum will reopen with a new name, a new identity, and a completely redesigned visitor experience — more accessible, more interactive, and deeply connected to today’s graphic issues.
A transformed museum, still driven by the same passion for words, images, forms, and signs.
Until then, let’s stay connected. The best is yet to come!
