Le musée ambulant. Lectures de Miyazaki.
Building on the success of its 2024 presentation at the Musée de l’Imprimerie et de la Communication Graphique, the exhibition Le musée ambulant. Lectures de Miyazaki continues its journey, settling in the heart of Lyon’s arrondissement town halls.
The exhibition has been redesigned into modules tailored to each town hall, offering visitors rich excerpts from the 2024 project. This off-site parcours will run until the end of 2026, while the museum itself undergoes accessibility renovations and prepares to reopen its doors in 2027.
The exhibition reveals many of the artistic inspirations of the Japanese filmmaker, unveiling the visual and textual references hidden within his films — allowing us to better understand his work and the origins of his legendary creativity.
Through this initiative, the museum fulfills its mission: to introduce or reintroduce iconic works of global cultural heritage, while paying tribute to artists — notably women — whose work Miyazaki adapted for the screen but who remain largely unknown to the wider public.
A true travelling museum, where all images stand on equal footing, and where everyone can encounter and learn from them at their own pace, without pressure or obligation.
Images that resonate with the major challenges of our contemporary world, especially ecological ones — challenges whose solutions will come from the youngest among us. Miyazaki’s films encourage and inspire reflection, empowering youth to imagine a different, resilient, and hopeful future.
