[Cultural programme] Discovering the city from a different perspective

On 22 September 2026, the museum will host a day of discovery focusing on street art and graphic design for a group of people supported by UFCS as part of their social and professional integration programme.

This workshop visit is organised in partnership with Culture pour tous and Gadagne Museums, as part of an initiative aimed at improving access to culture for people experiencing social and economic hardship.

Discovering Lyon’s street art

The day will begin in Vieux Lyon with an urban walk exploring works by Lyon-based street artists.

As they make their way through the streets, participants will be invited to observe the images, letters, signs and forms that appear in public spaces. The aim is to sharpen their visual awareness and encourage them to see a familiar environment in a different way: how can an artwork transform a wall? How do artists use letters and typography? What messages and forms can be found in the streets of Lyon?

The walk will be followed by a street art-inspired typography workshop. Drawing on the graphic elements observed throughout the city, participants will experiment with printing and stamping techniques to create their own images.

The aim is to explore shapes and letterforms, experiment with printing techniques and leave with a graphic creation produced during the day.

Culture pour tous: making culture more accessible

This initiative is part of Culture pour tous, a programme run by the ALLIES association and the Maison métropolitaine d’insertion pour l’emploi (MMIE).

Established in 1998, Culture pour tous works to improve access to cultural and sporting activities for people experiencing poverty or social and economic hardship. The programme works with social and employment-support organisations to enable the people they support to discover cultural venues, artistic practices and cultural activities.

This workshop visit brings together several approaches: discovering Lyon’s heritage and street art, observing public space, engaging in artistic practice and experimenting with typography.

For the museum, it is another way of pursuing its outreach and education work and making graphic culture accessible to new audiences, including during the museum’s closure.
