The film

France, 1963. Anne, a promising student, becomes pregnant. Determined to take control of her body and future, she decides to have an abortion. Alone in her fight against time and the law, she takes every risk. Exams are approaching. Her belly is growing.
This is the powerful adaptation of Annie Ernaux’s autobiographical account of her illegal abortion — a film carried by the stunning performance of Anamaria Vartolomei.
